I went and saw Thor today with Christian and some other friends.
It was REALLY good. It far exceeded my expectations, which were rather low.
I went in knowing almost nothing of what the movie was about, only that the commercials for the film didn't really please me or lead me to believe it would be a movie I would be interested in. To be honest the whole super hero film craze that is upon us is really not my thing. I've never been into comics for the most part and I just feel like giving every comic it's own $200+ million film is a little superfluous. At least, that is how I felt. Thor changed that opinion. The film made me want to go out and read every Norse mythology book I can get my hands on. It also rekindled my interest in the fantasy genre. The worlds they created (reimagined) for Asgard and Jotunheim were awesome, especially in respect to Asgard. As soon as I saw Asgard, I knew my judgements I had made on the film were going to be thrown out the window. This post is turning into a praise-fest for this movie, but it really was good. I'd recommend it highly.
Perhaps I'll even see it again? It's only five dollars to see a movie through the week. So, who knows what the future holds?
