20 Seconds of Insane Courage (A truth? A kiss? A joke and a compliment and a smile?)

I was doing the dishes a little bit ago (yeah, I wash dishes in the middle of the night, what?) and a song came on my Sublime Pandora station that did that thing that only the right song at the right time can do. It took me to that place where music rules and the emotions you feel are intense and real, and perfectly in sync with the song that is playing.

The song isn't important, neither are the specifics of the who/what/when/where/why of that which I was thinking and feeling. I say that not because I do not wish to disclose those details, but because I want you to be able to experience and understand that feeling as objectively as possible, without my interpretation of it. You know what I am talking about, yes? When you listen to a song that sits so perfectly with your soul that it's almost as if that song (lyrically and musically) encompasses your entire reality.

I hope you know the feeling I mean. I hope that music moves you when you need it to. I hope that for you, and I believe in you. Yes, YOU. I believe in you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lately these bands have really made me happy.
Sometimes they have made me sad,

and other times they have made me feel weird.
They are all worth listening to though.

-Incubus
Specifically "Wish You Were Here" and "Love Hurts" both from the album Monuments &  Melodies. I need to remember to check out Incubus' discography. I have not given them the time they deserve but these songs have made me realize I should.

-Of Montreal.
Recently got into this band, and started off with a bang. They have 11 studio albums so far, 6 of which I have listened to. They have a couple really funk/psychedelic based albums that I really enjoy called Skeletal Lamping and False Priest. The Gay Parade is also among my favorites and has a much more organic sound, in that it's almost all physical instrumentation rather than electronic or synthesized sounds which are prominent in the other albums I mentioned.

-Sublime.
Noah Chubb--thank you for asking me "How have I not listened to this band before?!" These guys were just golden. 40 oz to Freedom is an album for the ages. "Waiting for My Ruca" , "Scarlet Begonias", "We're Only Gonna Die for our Arrogance", "Smoke Two Joints" are my top tracks, and HIGHly suggest hitting these guys up  if you need to chill and listen to some real ass music for a minute.

-Cake.
Nichole, Holden, and I were sitting at Nichole's place listening to Cake's album Prolonging the Magic (compliments of Jake Ingrum) and damn it if it wasn't some of the best written, quirky, and eclectic rock music I have head in quite a while. I want to go back and listen to it again as well as listening to much more Cake, because they are one of those bands I should already be into, and it's clearly unexcusable that I am not! Suggested tracks "When You Sleep" and "Sheeps go to Heaven".

-The National.
The National might be around to stay, at least with me. This band is undeniably good. I know that isn't logical. I'm sure someone could/does deny that this is a good band. But they are wrong. Fact. :P
The album High Violet is just flawless. Every note sung and played sounds like the most intentional thing you have ever heard in your life. The drums take you to a new world in every song, with deliberate and hard hitting yet SO controlled steadiness. My favorite tracks--all of them. But if I had to choose I would say "Anyone's Ghost", "Lemonworld", "Runaway", and "Bloodbuzz Ohio."

I know what you mean by this. At least in my own way, I sometimes feel like certain songs come to me for specific reasons. like fate or something that i just happened to turn to that radio station or website station (whatever be it) at that particular time for a reason. Its usually a song that feels perfectly right, and something i needed to hear. Also Ill have to check out some of those bands you mentioned because ive never heard of them before. Ive heard of some, but not all. p.s. i like the dishes picture..
