Atom Bomb

Like a heart attack
Like a wrecking ball
Like a derailed train
Like a forest felled
Like an atom bomb
He came along.

In the dead of night,
Smoky room, and morning light
In the eye of the storm
Where confusion rests
Together we rest,
together we rest
He says it's not the time;
She said this is not the way
They stopped using words
To abate the pain
To push back the fear

Their lips told tales
And the ceiling fell.

He drove away as
He left her to shake
In the fallout where
The afterglow of golden flakes
Choke out all the air
Where a dusty hope
Mixes with despair
And cakes the walls
Beautifully tarnished.

Like a heart attack
(His heart was beating like a drum)
Or a forest felled
(Falling in and out of love)
In the dead of night,
(The place we all feel most alive)
Where confusion rests,
(Together we rest forever)
He said it's not the time
(Just forever placed on hold)
And the ceiling fell.

But their lips told tales
Of dusty hope
Mixed with despair
So he drove away
Beautifully tarnished.

Well written my friend, the image you paint with these words is perfect. I think this is a great piece of work.
